daughter “youth”

Saya belakangan sedang suka sekali dengan lagu-lagu dari Daughter, awalnya proyek solo dari Elena Tonra kini menjadi sebuah trio beraliran experimental folk asal London, Inggris. Dengan personil: Elena Tonra (vocals, guitar), Igor Haefeli (guitar), dan Remi Aguilella (drums). Lirik-lirik yang mendalam, dinyanyikan dengan suara rapuh namun tegas, mengingatkan pada Feist dan Bat for Lashes.  Sementara kedua personil yang baru yaitu Igor memberi aksen isian gitar dengan reverb kental menambahkan suasana shoegazing pada tiap lagu, dan Remi dengan beat-beat yang tepat sasaran menciptakan suasana megah tanpa berlebihan. Mereka baru merilis satu album berjudul “If You Leave”. Lagu dibawah ini bagi saya adalah salah satu lagu pop terbaik yang pernah ditulis, sebuah anthem patah hati dengan lirik yang miris namun dinyanyikan dengan nada gagah.
